Ledley King Leaves the England Camp and Returns to Tottenham

Ledley King - Photo by John DobsonHaving received a shock call-up to the England squad chosen by Fabio Capello on Sunday; Ledley King has now been removed, and returns home to Tottenham.

England faces Slovakia on Saturday, but Ledley King will sadly not now feature, and he won’t figure in Capello’s plans for the game against Ukraine next Wednesday either.

King has been suffering for some time with a knee injury, and has been used very sparingly by Harry Redknapp this season for Tottenham; it was a fine gesture by Fabio Capello to call-up King to the England team, and were he fully fit then he’d be brilliant for England, sadly he’s not though, and he’ll now have to wait a little longer for his next England cap.

June 2007 was the last time Ledley King appeared for his country, and to date he has made 19 appearances for England, scoring one goal in the process.

This is the second time that Ledley King has been called up to the England squad by Fabio Capello, and just like last time; he has now been withdrawn.
