Shay Given Signs for Manchester City

Shay GivenNewcastle United keeper Shay Given has signed for Manchester City for an undisclosed fee. He’s agreed a four and a half year contract with City, and will now be knocking young goalkeeper Joe Hart to the bench.

With Kasper Schmeichel already frustrated at his lack of first team opportunities and wanting to leave the club; the signing of Shay Given surely means that he’ll never play for the Manchester City first team again, and with only one day left until the transfer window closes; he’ll now be hoping that someone makes a bid for him very soon.

Shay Given is the fourth Manchester City signing of the January transfer window, with the three new faces of Wayne Bridge, Craig Bellamy and Nigel de Jong already having been brought into the club in January.

Given will now be looking to get involved in first team action with Man City as soon as possible, and will surely make his debut on February 7th when Manchester City host Middlesbrough at the City of Manchester Stadium.
