Martin Ling Leaves Leyton Orient

Published by richleigh at 11:48 pm under English League One, Soccer News Edit This

Leyton Orient BadgeAfter a fifth consecutive defeat, Leyton Orient has parted company with manager Martin Ling by mutual consent. The O’s are without a win in eight games, and the club now sits 21st in the league, down in the relegation zone and struggling for survival in League One.

Ling actually joined Orient in as caretaker manager in September 2003, and had been the official manager of the club since December 2003. After more than five years as manager though; the club must now move on, and Martin Ling, along with his assistant Dean Smith, will now be looking for work elsewhere.

Leyton Orient must now begin its search for a new manager, and when you’re looking for a replacement for a manager of five years; the task is never going to be an easy one.

Kevin Nugent, manager of the youth team, has been named caretaker manager of the club, and Orient will now be looking to replace Ling within the next two weeks. The club hosts an important home game against Southend on Tuesday, and with Southend hovering not too far up the table; Nugent will be hoping to provide the club with its first win in nine games against The Shrimpers.

Morale is likely to be incredibly low at Brisbane Road right now; the team has gone a long time without a win, and just long a long term manager also. The players will have to try and keep their heads up, but the truth of the matter is that it’s not going to be at all easy.

This is a testing time for Leyton Orient Football Club right now, it’s sink or swim for the club, and currently The O’s are taking a real plunge.

Fans will be hoping that Leyton Orient can maintain its League One status this season, things are getting difficult for the club right now though, and although only just inside the relegation zone right now; it’s the fact that the club has gone eight games without a win that’s the most worrying thing.

Leyton Orient is going through a very tough time right now, and the club must now say goodbye to its committed and hugely faithful manager Martin Ling. It’s a time of great change at Brisbane Road, big decisions have been made, and all involved with the club will now be hoping that it’s enough to save the club from relegation, and that next season the team will still be playing its football in League One.
