Santa Cruz Bid Rejected - Blackburn Say No to Manchester City Offer in Excess of £12 Million

Roque Santa CruzManchester City manager Mark Hughes has had a bid rejected for Blackburn’s Roque Santa Cruz. During the summer City had an offer of £12 million rejected, and according to Mark Hughes the latest offer to have been rejected by Rovers is “significantly higher than that”.

Hughes is currently looking to strengthen his Manchester City side, and reportedly has around £100 million to play with in the window. It has been previously speculated that it will take an offer somewhere in the region of £17 million to prize Santa Cruz away from Blackburn; Mark Hughes certainly has the funds available if he does wish to sign Santa Cruz, and if a deal can be arranged with Blackburn then Roque Santa Cruz will soon be on his way to Eastlands.

The latest bid to have been rejected remains undisclosed, the striker last month told BBC Radio 5 Live however that if a “better or an ambitious club” wishes to sign him then he’d be willing to make the switch. Santa Cruz had a brilliant season last term; he hasn’t made quite such an impact so far this season however, and is presently failing to find the form that had Manchester United interested in the summer.

Roque Santa Cruz is a decent enough player and Blackburn Rovers will only be happy to sell if the price is right; negotiations will no doubt continue, and Mark Hughes will strive on in his quest to sign the Paraguayan international. Blackburn will surely have a figure in mind, and if a deal can be agreed then Santa Cruz can once more team up with Mark Hughes as he heads from Blackburn to Manchester City.
