FA Cup Fourth Round Draw

Published by richleigh under FA Cup, Soccer News Edit This

The FA Cup LogoThe draw for the Fourth Round of the FA Cup took place today, and there are a number of absolutely excellent ties all set to take place in the next round. The first two teams to be drawn were Liverpool and Everton in what should prove to be a fantastic fourth round Merseyside derby, and the fun certainly didn’t end there.

Non league team Torquay was drawn at home to Coventry; Kettering Town meanwhile will host Premier League opponents in the form of Fulham. Histon was another non league team in the draw, and should Histon defeat Swansea in their third round clash then they will face an away trip to either Bristol City or Portsmouth.

The FA Cup always comes with upsets aplenty, and with several already having taken place throughout the rounds; I’m sure that the fourth round will be no different. Perhaps Cardiff can overcome Arsenal, or maybe Cheltenham/Doncaster will defeat Aston Villa? However the results may happen to go, you can rest assured that there’ll be much spirit and fight shown by the underdog teams at all times.

Never does the FA Cup disappoint, every year it has a lot to offer, and I’m sure there’s still a lot more to come from the finest domestic cup competition in England. The FA Cup involves teams of all levels, and having begun back on August 16th 2008, the final game will not take place until May 30th.

A record 762 clubs were accepted to take part in this season’s competition, the FA Cup is a huge knockout competition, and having been founded in 1871; it certainly has a lot of history too.
