Oxford United Sign Ricky Sappleton
Nineteen year old Ricky Sappleton has joined Oxford United on a one month’s loan deal from Leicester City. The Jamaican born striker spent a month on loan at Bournemouth earlier in the season, and should Sappleton impress at Oxford during January then it’s possible that his loan deal could be lengthened.
Ricky Sappleton started out his career at Queens Park Rangers as a youth, and before joining Leicester City had trials with Liverpool and Middlesbrough. Sappleton scored on his Bournemouth debut in a 1-1 draw with Aldershot, and with Oxford today facing a home game against Salisbury City with Sappleton available for selection; Oxford will be hoping that Ricky Sappleton will be able to make an instant impact at the Kassam Stadium also.
Ricky Sappleton faces tough competition for selection upfront in the form of fellow loan players James Constable, Lewis Haldane, and Jamie Guy; Lewis Haldane and James Constable having formed a fantastic partnership on Sunday as Oxford United comfortably overcame Ebbsfleet United 5-1.
