Berbatov Too Ill to Face Gamba Osaka

Published by richleigh at 8:54 pm under Soccer News Edit This

Dimitar Berbatov ShirtDimitar Berbatov has been unable to train since arriving in Japan for the FIFA Club World Cup due to contracting a virus. Manchester United face Gamba Osaka tomorrow in the Club World Cup semi-final, but Berbatov will be unable to play.

Due to Berbatov’s injury; Carlos Tevez and Wayne Rooney are likely to start upfront for United. Rooney actually picked up a minor injury in training on Tuesday so he too could potentially be sidelined; Alex Ferguson expects him to be fit to play however and the Tevez, Rooney strike force is therefore likely.

Should Manchester United win the game tomorrow then they’ll face a final match against Liga de Quito on Sunday. Liga de Quito defeated Mexican team Pachuca 2-0 to reach the final, and if Manchester United were to lose tomorrow’s game then they’d be playing Pachuca on Sunday to establish who finishes third and fourth.

For those that live in the UK; Gamba Osaka v Man Utd can be watched tomorrow (Thursday 18th December) live on Five, and coverage will begin at 10:20am. Kick-off is at 10:30 GMT.
