Sam Allardyce is the new manager of Blackburn Rovers
Sam Allardyce has been brought into Blackburn Rovers on a three year contract as the new manager of the club. Allardyce replaces Paul Ince who was yesterday sacked after a poor start to the season which has seen Blackburn achieve only 13 points from 17 games.
Allardyce had been out of work since leaving Newcastle on January 9th, and Blackburn have now been swift in snapping him up as the ideal man to take over at Ewood Park. Allardyce had previously been linked with the job in the summer when the position was ultimately handed to Paul Ince; the job is Allardyce’s now though, and now is the time for Sam Allardyce to shine.
Big Sam did a brilliant job in his eight years at Bolton, and the Blackburn board will now be hoping that he can do a similarly strong job at Ewood Park. Blackburn Rovers finished seventh in the league last season; it’ll be a big ask for Sam Allardyce to try and replicate the success of last season, but he may well be the man to save the club from relegation to the Championship.
Blackburn have now gone eleven games without a win, and with Stoke to play on Saturday; all involved with the club will now be hoping that the team can finally win this weekend. Current form suggests that Blackburn Rovers is a football team on the road to relegation, Sam Allardyce can be the man to change that though, and a newfound optimism is likely to surround Ewood Park this evening at the prospect of Sam Allardyce achieving great success with Blackburn Rovers.
