William Gallas on his way out of Arsenal?
Rumour has it that several clubs are interested in Gallas at current, including AC Milan and Juventus. The Times is also linking Nicklas Bendtner with a move away from the Emirates, with the player having failed to perform in some of Arsenal’s biggest matches this season. Bendtner is a good player; that’s not something that’s in question, more the player’s ability to remain confident and perform strongly in crunch games where trophies are won and lost.
I don’t think Arsenal fans will ever forget William Gallas antics last season where Arsenal threw away a two goal lead against Birmingham City to ultimately draw the game 2-2. Instead of being there for his team like a good captain always should; Gallas instead chose to throw his toys out of the pram, standing alone sulking in the Birmingham half whilst James McFadden fired home his late penalty.
Gallas was arguably never the right choice for Arsenal captain, and no one would have been too surprised when the captaincy was taken away from him last month. Gallas Arsenal future has been in doubt for some time now, and it would certainly seem that he’ll soon be leaving the club.
William Gallas has always been quite a hot headed individual; a good player, but definitely very fiery. It seems that his Arsenal days are numbered, and with Juventus reportedly the most likely to sign him; William Gallas could once more be joining former manager Claudio Ranieri, the man who signed Gallas for Chelsea back in 2001.
