Sunderland Smash Four Past West Brom
Sunderland is back to winning ways today with a fantastic 4-0 win over bottom side West Brom. Sunderland had been unfortunate not to achieve a point at Old Traffic last week; ultimately losing out to a last minute Nemanja Vidic winner, this week the team has gone goal crazy however and absolutely hammered West Bromwich Albion.
All four Sunderland goals were scored inside the first 47 minutes; the last 43 remained irrelevant, and Sunderland cruised to an all important victory which saw the side lifted out of the relegation zone. Sunderland had lost three on the trot going into this one, recent form was brushed aside today however as the team comfortably overcame West Brom courtesy of two goals from Kenwyne Jones, and one apiece for Andy Reid and Djibril Cisse.
Jones could well have had a hat-trick, Carson stood strong to deny him from scoring another however, and despite conceding four; he also made some pretty superb stops too. West Brom have only found the back of the net twelve times so far this season, things didn’t improve for the side today, and with just twelve points from seventeen games; it looks like West Brom could have real problems staying up this season. Blackburn look equally doomed at current; neither side looking likely to score it would seem that both clubs are heading straight for the Championship.
So Sunderland finally won again, and with upcoming fixtures against Hull and Blackburn; Sunderland will really feel that they have a strong chance of winning both of these games. The Christmas period could really be the turning point for Sunderland this season; the period in which the team really begins to start moving on up the league.
Sunderland’s season is far from over yet, Roy Keane may now have left, but I’m still sure that Sunderland AFC is a club moving forwards. In a couple of season’s time we could even see the club up near the top, fighting with the big boys for a place in Europe; it may seem a distant dream at current, but stranger things most certainly have happened.
