Roy Keane Resigns
With Sunderland currently sitting in the relegation zone; Roy Keane has resigned after 27 months in charge of the club. There have been rumours surrounding his future for some weeks now, and with Keane having now quit, the Black Cats will now be on the lookout for a new manager.
Keane spent a lot of money in the summer, trying to improve upon last season’s Premier League finish of 15th, things haven’t been too successful so far however, and in Keane’s final game in charge the side succumbed to a 4-1 thrashing at home to Bolton. It has not been an easy year at all for Sunderland, and whilst the side did defeat Newcastle United for the first time in 28 years; there hasn’t been too much else to celebrate about on the whole, and the team has only won 4 times in its 15 league games so far.
Sunderland fans will be hopeful that their side can stay another season in the Premier League, losing Roy Keane is a big blow for them however, and with Keane having achieved so much as the club to date; many will surely be wondering who could possibly do a better job in charge than Roy Keane. Fans will no doubt remain optimistic, things currently look quite bleak for Sunderland however, and the side will have to start winning games fast if they’re to survive another season in the English Premier League.
