Klaas-Jan Huntelaar Will Join Real Madrid in January
With Ruud van Nistelrooy out for the rest of the season; Klaas-Jan Huntelaar will be brought into the club in January for a fee of £17 million. The transfer has been agreed, and his contract at Real Madrid will run until 2013.
Huntelaar scored 33 goals in 34 games in the Dutch First Division last season; he’s not a consistent scorer, but does have periods of form where he’ll score a lot of goals for his team. He’s out with an ankle injury right now, Real Madrid manager Bernd Schuster will be hoping to bring him into the side as soon as possible however, and will have his fingers crossed that Huntelaar can become somewhat of a scoring sensation in Spain.
Many players have performed well in the Dutch league and failed to recreate that form elsewhere, Huntelaar has 10 goals in 18 Caps for Holland however, so it would seem that there’s a good chance that he’ll be able to find the back of the net in Spain quite comfortably.
Manchester United had been amongst the clubs thought to have been interested in signing Huntelaar; the Dutch international is heading for Spain though, and Alex Ferguson will just have to remain content with the attacking trio of Rooney, Berbatov, and Tevez.
