Wigan Removed From the Relegation Zone

Published by richleigh at 10:39 pm under English Premier League, Soccer News Edit This

A home win tonight against Everton meant that Wigan left the relegation zone this evening, climbing to 15th place and once more plunging Newcastle into the drop zone in the process. It was a big win for Wigan, Everton had the chance to come within a point of Arsenal if they’d won; it wasn’t to be for them however and instead they stay 7th.

Wigan hadn’t won for three games going into this one, they won tonight though and were gifted the victory courtesy of a Henri Camara goal. The game ended 1-0, it was a brilliant result for Wigan, but the truth was that Everton didn’t play well at all. Both teams played some incredibly sloppy football, it wasn’t a great game for the neutral, the end result was a good one for Wigan fans however and they’ll be pleased that the team has now found its way out of the relegation zone.

It’s still very tight down at the bottom of the league, only 5 points separating 7th place Everton and 18th position Newcastle; big changes keep occurring with every passing game, and no team is yet safe in the English Premier league. You wouldn’t expect any of the top five to get relegated, other than that though it’s a very open league, and come the end of the season; anyone could be going down.
