England Edge Out Germany in Berlin

Few teams travel to Germany and win, England did just that tonight however as they overcame Germany with a fantastic 2-1 victory. With a first half goal from Matthew Upson and an 84th minute winner from captain John Terry; a youthful England side was able to defeat Germany in Berlin and extend their winning streak to a run of five games.

England dominated the first half and were good value for their 1-0 lead at half time, in the second half Germany took to the pitch with far more purpose however and this paid off when the equaliser was scored by Helmes in the 63rd minute. The goal came as a result of a mix up between John Terry and Scott Carson, John Terry taking full responsibility for the mishap in the post-match interview. Ultimately it was John Terry that saved the day however with a fantastic late header which gifted England the victory. England were good value for their victory in the end and fully deserved the win. Germany don’t lose many games, they were outplayed and outclassed by England this evening though and England have walked away with a 2-1 win.

Under Fabio Capello the England team is always supremely strong in attack. There’s a lot of pace in the team and everyone plays with real purpose under the sublime guidance of Capello. There’s generally a lot of nervousness when players put on the England shirt, under Capello this seems to have changed however and the England team which took to the field tonight against Germany was one which was packed full of confidence. From start to finish England attacked the game with real purpose, the England players wanted to win this game and were able to accomplish this task with a joyous and thoroughly well deserved 2-1 victory.

A lot of key players were missing from the England team this evening, players such as Theo Walcott, Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerrard, and Frank Lampard. With injury problems an issue however, this game gave Capello an ideal opportunity to see some other players perform at international level and a lot of the players out there this evening provided a strong case as to why they should be involved in the next England international.

The England players played with a lot of pride this evening, England versus Germany is always a huge game and the England squad really rose to the challenge this evening. With the final score at Germany 1-2 England; the end result really reflected the run of the play and England were fully deserving of this victory. Confidence will now be higher than ever in the England camp and once more England have defeated arch rivals Germany in a fantastic game of football.

The game may have been a friendly this evening, it certainly wasn’t at all light-hearted however and both teams approached the game with real purpose and strong intent to win. England conquered Germany this evening though and emerged victorious. Capello’s England win again, it’s onwards and upwards for the international team, and with so many young guns having impressed this evening; the footballing future is very bright for England.
