Andy Cole Retires From Football

Published by richleigh under Soccer News Edit This

Professional footballer Andrew Cole has officially retired from the playing game after spending many successful years in the sport. He hopes to still have a career in the game off the field, his playing days are over though and Andy Cole has now officially hung up his boots for good.

Andy Cole most notably spent time at Newcastle United and Manchester United at the height of his career, forging a fantastic on-field relationship with Dwight Yorke during his time at Manchester United. Manchester United was the club at which Andy Cole had his most success, and having played for twelve different clubs over the course of his nineteen year career; never will that figure now be turning to unlucky thirteen.

Cole started his playing game at Arsenal, signing a professional contract in 1989 but only ever making one first team appearance for the club before moving on in 1992. Good times would later follow though, and Cole is known as somewhat of a legend for his phenomenal goal scoring record at both Newcastle and Man United.

When Manchester United swooped in for Andy Cole in January 1995; a new British record was set for the £7 million value of the deal. Andy Cole was a huge signing for Manchester United and certainly did not turn out to be at all a disappointment.

It’s sad that Andy Cole has now brought his career to an end, he’ll be remembered by many for his fantastic scoring ways however, and having followed Man United for many years now; I think it’s safe to say that I personally will never forget the supreme scoring legend that is Andy Cole.
